A written text on a particular subject which contains explanation, notes, discussion, exercises, and sample answers to help students better understand the subject.

1. Each module or manual application must go through the department/faculty.
2. Each book must conform to the subject syllabus and reading instruction.
3. Textbook can be written by a minimum of two (2) writers.
4. The minimum number of chapters is seven (7).
5. Not more than three (3) editors are allowed in a textbook.
6. Editor(s) is responsible for 5C, editing, compiling, formatting, ensuring completeness of manuscript, and adherence to UTP Press Writing Guidelines before submission to UTP Press.
7. Reference list/bibliography as back matter.
8. Exercises and problem-solving samples are advisable to be included in the writing.

1. This guideline has been developed to be applied by writers in preparing manuscripts according to the standard of an academic book.
2. A scholarly book is defined as a written manuscript based on research, experiment, scholarly literature, or standard practice which can be applied in its discipline.
3. The book content must consist of:

      2. Writer(s) name
      3. Table of Contents
      4. Preface
      5. Foreword
   2. Text
      1. Chapters
   3. Back matter
      1. References
      2. Index
4. Scholarly book genres are:
   1. Authored Book
   2. Chapter Book
   3. Edited Book
   4. Module
   5. Textbook
5. Writers are advised to follow:
   1. Writing is in British English in MS Word format.
   2. Typing in 1.5 spacing with Times New Roman typeface in 11 pt size or Arial typeface in 10 pt size.
   3. File margins are one (1) inch on top, bottom, right, and left.
   4. Every chapter is written in a separate file.
   5. Any illustration, graphic, figure, or other supporting material must be in JPEG or TIFF format and numbered consistently at the bottom. The source file for JPEG or TIFF is advised to be enclosed separately instead of embedded in the MS Word document.
   6. Tables or charts must be in the original software format and numbered on top.
   7. Equations and formulas written in math software should be attached.
   8. Pictures or illustrations from the web are not encouraged.
   9. The minimum number of pages is 120, excluding appendices and references.
